Reporting potholes

Blackpool North & Cleveleys MP launches a new website to report potholes for repair. The Government has recently announced a huge injection of money into local councils to help fix the many potholes that have developed across the constituency.  Lancashire County Council has been given enough money to repair 92,000 potholes and Blackpool has been given enough to fix around 3,000 potholes.  The website - www.potholereporting.net - makes it easy for local residents to directly indentify the location of the pothole which can then in turn be sent to the relevant authority t

Kelso Avenue Tram Crossing

Blackpool Council ignore residents - again Like many residents I was upsetwhen Blackpool Council refused tokeep open the tram crossing at Lauderdale Avenue. Whilst we preserved a pedestrian access, it has nonetheless added an extraburden onto local motorists andshowed the Council massively out of touchwith local sentiment, despite a 3,500+ name petition.

United Utilities multi-million pound investment to protect Norbreck and Anchorsholme I was pleased to spend the morningrecently with United Utilities whobriefed me on the impressiveengineering works occurring underAnchorsholme Park. When thisproject is completed manyhundreds of properties will beprotected from rainwater floodingas a huge underground tank willcollect the water and pump it milesout to sea. This will also improve the quality ofthe bathing wateralong the Fylde coast.

Welcome to my new and improved website. I hope if you browse it you find all the information you want. I’ve added an instant advice section, so people can find the information they need easily to help deal with everyday situations; I do however stand by to help any one of my constituents with whatever concerns them. I will keep the website updated with news and opinions on what is happening in Blackpool, Cleveleys and Westminster and also use it as a forum for engaging with  people who I represent in Parliament.  I will be running surveys and polls from the site as well as special campaign sites where you can sign up for instance to show your support for Wyre residents who are no longer able to use the trams using their NOW Card.I would welcome your feedback on the new site and I will take suggest

2 Million more private sector jobs

Figures released today show a record drop in those signing on out of work and another month where more people than ever are in work. Commening, local MP Paul Maynard said, “This is another encouraging set of employment figures, which has seen a drop locally in young people out of a work by a 100 in two months to 410.  In Blackpool North & Cleveleys we now have fewer people out of work than at the time of the last election and a drop of 523 from this time last year.  These figures are not a trigger for complacency, there is still more work to do to bring down the record deficit inflicted on us by Labour.&nb
