Young people in Blackpool North and Cleveleys given the Chance to be Chancellor and share their opinions on the Youth Budget 2012 Paul Maynard is supporting the launch of Chance to be Chancellor 2012 and is calling on schools and young people in Blackpool North and Cleveleys to take up in the challenge to learn about, and share their opinions on, Budget 2012.  Run by the Citizenship Foundation, in partnership with Aviva, Chance to be Chancellor is open to all 14-18 year olds across the UK. Over the past few years, household collections of clothing and other goods have become commonplace.   Many charities run collections that help to raise vital funds for the good causes they represent. Sadly, some bags intended for charity are being stolen by thieves and fraudulent collectors, costing UK charities many millions in lost income each year. Many residents are now understandably nervous of donating goods in this way and this could lead to an even greater loss of income for charities.

MP welcomes students to Parliament

Blackpool North & Cleveleys MP, Paul Maynard, welcomed students from Blackpool’s Unity College to Parliament yesterday.  The four students, along with teacher Katie Heron, enjoyed a full tour, lunch and meeting with the Secretary of State for International Development, Andrew Mitchell MP. Blackpool North and Cleveleys MP, Paul Maynard, today writes to post-16 schools encouraging to take up an offer by the Holocaust Educational Trust for 2 students from each school to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau. Blackpool North and Cleveleys MP, Paul Maynard, today writes to post-16 schools encouraging to take up an offer by the Holocaust Educational Trust for 2 students from each school to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau. The one day trip to the infamous Nazi concentration camp in Poland is part funded by the Government. The trip is £59 per person travelling, but additional funding can be applied for to cover the this and other travel costs. Com

Blackpool North & Cleveleys MP, Paul Maynard was joined today by highway bosses from both Blackpool & Lancashire councils to conduct a survey of pavements in and around Wood Green Drive and Fir Tree Place area of Blackpool.  The area has a zigzagging boundary between Blackpool and neighbouring highways Authority, Lancashire and Paul was keen to ensure co-operations between the councils. After a vigorous campaign by both Paul Maynard MP and Ben Wallace MP, the Highways Agency has scrapped plans to turn the Norcross roundabout in to a traffic light junction. Paul says, "I am delighted at the decision not to go ahead with the scheme. After a vigorous campaign by both Paul Maynard MP and Ben Wallace MP, the Highways Agency has scrapped plans to turn the Norcross roundabout in to a traffic light junction. Paul says, "I am delighted at the decision not to go ahead with the scheme. No one wanted it, no one could understand the need and I think in the end common sense has won through. Ben and I worked hard to achieve this for all our residents who made their feelings clear, that this was a scheme too far."
